AURAL: An Evolutionary Interface for a Robotic Sonification Process
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new approach is presented which integrates an interactive evolutionary interface for sound production, real world devices, such as mobile robots, and an omnidirectional vision system. Starting with an evolutionary composition system named VOX POPULI and later JaVOX, a hybrid environment named AURAL has evolved. It uses curves drawn in an GUI and trajectories produced by mobile robots to modify the fitness function of a real time sonic composition. An arena was constructed to allow the interaction between robots and controlling the variations of sonic parameters producing real time MIDI data. The navigation supervisor system, the sonification environment and graphic results of real time experiments are described.

Control of a 2-DoF robotic arm using a P300-based brain-computer interface
In this study, a novel control algorithm, based on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is fully developed to control a 2-DoF robotic arm. Eight subjects including 5 men and 3 women perform a 2-dimensional target tracking in a simulated environment. Their EEG (Electroencephalography) signals from visual cortex are recorded and P300 components are extracted and evaluated to perform a real...
متن کاملA Dual Mode Human-Robot Teleoperation Interface Based on Airflow in the Aural Cavity
Robot teleoperation systems have been limited in their utility due to the need for operator motion, lack of portability and limitation to singular input modalities. In this article, the design and construction of a dual-mode human–machine interface system for robot teleoperation addressing all these issues is presented. The interface is capable of directing robotic devices in response to tongue...
متن کامل3d Time-based Aural Data Representation Using D4 Library’s Layer Based Amplitude Panning Algorithm
The following paper introduces a new Layer Based Amplitude Panning algorithm and supporting D library of rapid prototyping tools for the 3D time-based data representation using sound. The algorithm is designed to scale and support a broad array of configurations, with particular focus on High Density Loudspeaker Arrays (HDLAs). The supporting rapid prototyping tools are designed to leverage ocu...
متن کاملTowards Enhancing Earthquake Response Interpretation Using Sonification
In this paper, we select the application domain of earthquake engineering for utility of sonification, where signals are of random frequency and amplitude content. In particular, we focus on the response of structures to particular earthquake time histories. Given a random ground motion input, the resulting response signal will vary in the time and frequency domain, and show large variations in...
متن کاملSoniXplorer: Combining Visualization and Auralization for Content-Based Exploration of Music Collections
Music can be described best by music. However, current research in the design of user interfaces for the exploration of music collections has mainly focused on visualization aspects ignoring possible benefits from spatialized music playback. We describe our first development steps towards two novel user-interface designs: The Sonic Radar arranges a fixed number of prototypes resulting from a co...
